Have you found some Elden Ring boss fights easier to handle lately? Then of course it could be due to your increased gaming skills, but in some battles also because FromSoftware has adjusted the enemy AI – and that quietly and secretly, without revealing it in the patch notes. At least that’s what one YouTuber reports and explains what has changed.

Secretly tamed boss groups

It’s all about this: Sounds familiar: You run into a boss fight arena and are overrun by two or more enemies who attack you at the same time, leaving little time to attack. The same applies to the bosses, who get help after a certain time or when their life bar has reached a fixed status, which means that you are suddenly pinched.

In Elden Ring you will encounter some bosses who will attack you in pairs or even in larger groups. As reported by YouTuber Illusory Wall, some of these opponents have now been put on a leash by FromSoftware. In patch 1.04 – according to the YouTuber – the AI of the enemies was adjusted and the fights made easier.

In the video, Illusory Wall talks about these and other stealth changes that came with update 1.04:

This has been changed: According to Illusory Wall, two changes have been made, which can be summarized as follows: the bosses are less aggressive and don’t constantly beat us up at the same time. This allows us to more easily target one of the bosses and better respond to their attacks.

A direct AI adjustment is that the opponent who is not currently attacking – i.e. not the “primary attacker” – stays more in the background. The other adjustment ensures that fewer enemies can be “primary attackers” at the same time.

This does not apply to all fights

However, Illusory Wall explains that not all boss groups received both adjustments. Some only have one of the AI overhauls applied.

According to the YouTuber, this applies to the Erdenbaum Avatar duo, for example. Nevertheless, only one of the changes should make the fight easier. Some other difficult double bosses were, as explained in the video, but not changed at all. This includes the gargoyles.

Illusory Wall assumes that FromSoftware has concealed this adjustment in the patch notes to prevent discussions, but considers the changes to be useful. The YouTuber explains that this allows for more tactical combat, which is more fun.
