First and foremost, Diablo Immortal is the story of your quest to contain the World Stone destroyed in Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction. It’s also the story of the people who live through this time – including familiar faces like Deckard Cain, Charsi, Kaschya, Akara, Xul and Valla, as well as new characters you meet along the way. Finally, it is also the story of Westmarch, the player’s base and one of the last bastions of stability – an actual functioning city in Sanctuary.
By placing Immortal between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3, developers are able to recreate characters and locations that are important to players while still inventing new ones.
