Diablo Immortal: That's what Android players are saying

from Claus Ludewig
Blizzard has released Diablo Immortal for iOS and Android. How is the new Diablo received by mobile gamers?

Diablo Immortal can now be played on mobile devices with Android and iOS. PC players can now join the fray in an open beta version. According to the first reviews, the majority of gamers are very satisfied with Blizzard’s work – as a mobile game. The mobile game received an average of 4.7 out of five possible stars from 108,000 user reports in the Google Play Store. The graphics, for example, are great for a smartphone. However, a high-end smartphone such as a Samsung Galaxy S22 is required for the full graphic splendor. Diablo Immortal should hardly be playable on slow smartphones, such as a Samsung Galaxy A51. Blizzard’s latest work reminds some players of Diablo 3 paired with MMO elements.

Inaccurate touchscreen targeting and microtransactions cause frustration

However, there is also criticism. Some users complain about the inaccurate targeting via the touchscreen. However, the new Diablo also supports controllers, so you can play with a controller that is wirelessly connected via Bluetooth. If you use a gamepad on your smartphone, you should be able to control it better. Some players find it annoying that there is no autorun function for the next quest. Ultimately, there are predefined routes on clear maps. It should be noted that Diablo Immortal occupies a whopping 12 gigabytes of storage space. In order to be able to play, an active internet connection is necessary, as without internet you always end up in the main menu. At least in the first two hours, users have not yet experienced a pay-to-win, but whoever continues to play will – sooner or later – come across microtransactions. Finally, there are the Rifts, which are portals behind which special enemies lurk. If you defeat the demons successfully, there is a high probability that you will receive better items for your own equipment. For example, you can spend real money on Awakening with legendary items and Resonance.

However, according to Blizzard, it is also possible to get all the items without using real money. But you probably have to invest a lot of time for it. As is typical for a mobile game, the in-game currency Gems can be purchased with real money. For example, a chest with 6,000 stones costs just under 100 euros. Many players are angry about the business model behind Diablo Immortal. However, Diablo Immortal doesn’t run completely flawlessly yet, as there are a few graphic bugs.

Diablo Immortal User Ratings Collection:

  • With over 108,000 user reviews, Diablo Immortal gets very good ratings with an average of 4.7 out of five stars in the Play Store. The graphics, for example – which are great by smartphone standards – are pleasing, although they overwhelm a number of older or entry-level smartphones.
  • Blizzard’s latest work reminds some players of Diablo 3 paired with MMO elements.
  • The inaccurate targeting via touchscreen is criticized, so that control via controller seems to be advisable. In addition, some people are bothered by the given paths and the small maps.
  • As usual for mobile games, Diablo Immortal refinances itself via microtransactions. A number of players complain about the prices called and fear pay-to-win, which Blizzard firmly denies.
