PS Plus in June 2022: Despite God of War, a lousy month
In June 2022, one of the best games of the PS4 era is available for free via PlayStation Plus and yet you read everywhere that it is one of the worst months in a long time. And that’s for a reason.
Looking at the new PlayStation Plus service that will become active on June 23, 2022, many PlayStation fans had been eagerly awaiting the announcement of free games for PS Plus in June. Then recently there was on the official blog the confirmation of the three titles that you can claim with active PS Plus from June 7th:
- God of War for PS4: The recent action fest is seen as a technical and narrative milestone of the PS4 era. Must have played. Here’s to PC game test.
- Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker for PS4: In this Naruto title you can discover a new 4v4 mode in which 8 ninjas fight as a team at the same time. Players work together in teams of four and compete against other teams online.
- Nickelodeon All Star Brawl for PS4 and PS5: Fight as your favorite Nickelodeon characters in platform battles like Smash Bros. Powerful heroes from across the Nickelodeon universe are at your disposal – fight with and against stars from SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Welcome to the Louds, Danny Phantom, Aaahh!!! Monsters, Gooseberry Expedition, Hey Arnold!, Rugrats and many more series to prove your dominance over the animated world.
Sounds better than it is
Normally, a smash hit like God of War is exactly the kind of game that many PS Plus subscribers would embrace right away. There are two reasons why some players are still talking about the worst PS Plus month in a long time:
- God of War has been an integral part of the PS Plus Collection since the launch of the PlayStation 5.
- God of War will also be unlockable via PlayStation Plus Extra from June 23rd.
Overlooking the Sony State of Play Showcase on June 02, 2022 however, at 11:59 p.m., God of War’s confirmation for this month could be a nice harbinger. Will we finally find out when the sequel God of War: Ragnarok will be released? Note, however, that the event is designed to focus on PS VR2 and third-party titles. And if one Hogwarts Legacy has its own showcase gets, Sony could of course conjure something comparable out of a hat for God of War at some point. We’ll know more in a few hours!
