Those looking to buy PS5 or Xbox Series S/X are likely still struggling with that. But a new system at Amazon could at least make this process a little easier and more enjoyable. At the same time, it should also be possible to take action against scalpers and bots who snatch the consoles from under our noses in order to resell them for overpriced prices. You can find out how this works here.

Amazon invitations are designed to make PS5 and Xbox purchases much easier

How it works: You can request an invitation from Amazon, for example for a PS5. As soon as this is available, you will receive the invitation by email and then have, for example, 72 hours to complete the purchase. At least that’s the theory and the system that Amazon is launching in the USA (via: TechCrunch).

What’s the point? The whole thing is to ensure that products that are in high demand but are only available in small quantities can be ordered more easily. At the same time, ideally, scalpers and bots are also played out, who snatch the devices away from you in order to sell them on at much too high a price.

However, of course, it cannot be guaranteed that everyone who wants a console will get one immediately. But the selection of Amazon accounts allowed for the invites is to prevent bots and scalpers from being invited as much as possible. This supposedly works via data such as the duration, how long the accounts have existed and how much and what they have bought in total. Of course, mistakes could still creep in here.

Just a test first: Amazon is currently only launching the invitation system in the USA. The whole thing should only be started as a kind of test balloon for the time being and we will have to wait and see how well the system works. Whether and when it will also be introduced in Germany remains unclear at the moment.

Do you think the invite system can improve the issue?
