The Callisto Protocol: New trailer shows setting on Jupiter moon and lots and lots of violence

With The Callisto Protocol, Glen Schofield and his team have set themselves high goals for a debut work. Striking Distance Studios’ website says they want to create one of the scariest games ever. These ambitions come through very well in the trailer.

At Sony’s presentation on June 2nd, the studio gave a deeper insight into the horror game with an atmospheric and pretty gory trailer for the first time – and was able to cause a surprise despite major announcements such as the release of Final Fantasy 16.

In The Callisto Protocol, players take on the role of an inmate in a penal colony on Jupiter’s moon Callisto. What our dubious hero has committed is not yet known, but something seems to have gone terribly wrong in the prison. The gameplay trailer already shows some violent moments, murderous robots, and horribly disfigured people, for whom a mere prison sentence for the main character doesn’t seem to be enough. Dead Space’s roots are unmistakable, but The Callisto Protocol is already showing some potential.

The Callisto Protocol wasn’t the only horror hit to make an appearance at State of Play either. The Resident Evil 4 Remake was also announced with a trailer. Die-hard fans of the series have long hoped for a new edition of the classic, which is apparently due to be released in March 2023.
