WoW Guide: General information about the vengeance demon hunter
This section shows you what has changed in the Demon Hunter tank with WoW: Shadowlands, explains the strengths and weaknesses of the gameplay, and compares the performance of the Glaive Slinger in raids, arenas, and solo play with the performance of other classes and gameplays.
What is a Vengeance Demon Hunter?
The Vengeance Demon Hunter is a tank that wears leather armor and goes into battle with two glaives. In battle, he attacks his enemies with fel magic and fire attacks. Attacks alternate, with which you can build up or use up the resource short temper. Vengeance Demon Hunters have a reputation for being very mobile. Also, they provide the group with the important effect Chaos Brandthanks to which spellcasters deal five percent more magic damage.
That changed with Shadowlands
If you create a new demon hunter in WoW: Shadowlands, you will immediately stumble across the first innovation: the glaive swinger starts the Azeroth adventure at level 8 and your hero’s resource is now called irascibility instead of pain. Also new: The firebrand aura is no longer an exclusive talent of the Devastation Demon Hunters, but is available to all followers of the Demon Hunter Guild from level 10. The attack is also part of the standard repertoire Demonic Devastation, which you learn at level 11. Once you select the Vengeance specialization, you replace Chaos Strike through soul splitter (now hits a maximum of five targets), demon bite through Shear and devil rush through inferno impact.

In the level range from level 50 to 60 you can also expect new ranks for inferno impact, Flaming Brand such as soul splitter. There’s also a new passive ability at level 58 enjoy pain: When Flaming Brand expires on your primary target, you gain a shield that absorbs damage (based on your damage dealt to the primary target while Flaming Brand was active) for 15 seconds. If we add to that the numerous adjustments in the talent matrix, it can be said that a lot has changed in the vengeance demon hunter with Shadowlands. How these adjustments affect the way you play and the choice of talent, we will come to that in detail later.
This is how powerful the vengeance demon hunter is in 9.2.5
Vengeance Demon Hunters are highly mobile, possess a variety of self-healing and emergency tools, and have access to powerful passive effects such as Demonic protection (20 percent reduced damage taken) or thick skin (65 percent more stamina and 100 percent more armor). But how well does she do in PvP and PvE?
solo
When it comes to questing and farming, there is hardly an opponent that vengeful demon hunters have to fear. With good self-healing and defensive tools, you can take on elite enemies that other classes and specializations need help with. And the damage caused is also sufficiently high with the right talent distribution.
dungeons
In mythic dungeons, Vengeance Demon Hunter is one of the average popular specializations. The powerful paladins, druids, and death knights are used more frequently in the 5-player challenge, and this across all keystone tiers. You just don’t do too much single target damage and you can’t permanently reduce the damage you take.
raid
In the raid area, the greatest weakness of vengefulness comes into play even more: With demon spike and skills like Flaming Brand and metamorphosis it is not possible to actively provide improved damage avoidance throughout the fight. Although every raid wants at least one demon hunter for Chaos Brand have with you, but devastation demon hunters are currently in a much better position than at the beginning of Shadowlands. In other words, the demon hunter slot often goes to the offensive specialization.
PvP
Tank specializations have not always felt comfortable in the arenas and battlegrounds of World of Warcraft. You can withstand a lot, but also cause very little damage. Thanks to the high mobility and gimmicks such as the various signs, consume magic, imprison or interrupt, you can at least annoy opponents. In addition, Vengeful Demon Hunters make strong flag bearers or base guards on the battlefield. Also thanks to the rogue scare ghost vision.
