Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers: More than a retro arcade romance

For the release of Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers there is a trailer that introduces some characters and dialogue.

On June 1st, a new title from the indie forge [email protected] released. The sequel to the 2019 Arcade Spirits, Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers is now available.

Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers is a so-called visual novella, i.e. a interactive novel, just like its predecessor. The first part was about the player working in an arcade while looking for love and friendship. (Just like before!)

In the second part you stand on the other side of the virtual counter and take part in pro tournaments in the game Fist of Discomfort 2. To enter this tournament, the player assembles a team of people who hang out at Good Clean Fun, a combination of Pizzeria, laundromat and arcade.

To put the team together, you get to know the characters better, you start friendships and relationships with them and might even uncover a conspiracy in the arcade scene.

The whole thing is set in an alternative timeline in which the arcade game halls did not go under in the year 20XX. In addition to many new figures, some characters from the predecessor will also return.

Here are some features that the players might know from the first part:

• Great voice acting for emotional highs and lows.
• Character art by Molly Nemecek, throbbing synthwave sounds by Greg Mirles, and background art by Jessie Lam!
• The player’s personality is gauged by Iris, his handy virtual assistant. She varies from friendly, steady, quirky, brave or flexible!
• Date everyone, regardless of gender, or just focus on friendships.

New features include:

• Import your choices from the predecessor and change the world in 20XX based on your choices! And if you haven’t played Arcade Spirits, Arcade Spirits: The New Challengers works great on its own.
• A great character editor where you can choose body type, hairstyle, accessories, clothes and more. Your self-made character always appears on the screen!
• Design your own rival in the character editor. Create the one who constantly stands in your way or will love blossom between the two opponents..?
• Take on the world in Fist of Discomfort 2, a strategic minigame. Your victories or defeats change the course of the story without ending it.(The minigame can also be skipped)
• Balanced personality choices that offer more variety and opportunities to speak to each character.
