New sign of life: Development of Fable is said to be going well - rumor

The drama surrounding Fable 4 is entering the next round. For a long time it was not confirmed at all that at Microsoft work is being done on a new offshoot of the role-playing game, and the official announcement will finally follow in 2020 with an announcement trailer. But since then it’s been quiet. There were rumors, now debunked, that it could be an MMO. But there seems to be a new sign of life from the home of the Fable developers Playground Games admit.

Fable development said to be “going well”

In the XboxTwo Pocast, Windows Central journalist Jez Corden spoke of the fact that the Development of the role-playing game is progressing well. Also, he talked about removed content and why the development is taking so long. “It’s funny because just this week I was at a gameplay preview where the devs were talking about how the game kept getting pushed back because they couldn’t stop adding content, you know? And then it happens, that you get problems with the scope.”

Feature removal isn’t necessarily a bad thing

The insider goes on to explain why such a “size issue” isn’t necessarily a bad thing. “That [ein zu großer Umfang] can lead to overlapping problems to a certain extent and you find yourself in a situation where the game is pushed back millions of years by the planned amount of time. Reducing scope doesn’t have to be bad. It just means the game gets more focused […] So I don’t know, I don’t think players need to be worried about the project as the title gets more compact. […] Sometimes less is more, you’ll see.” The technical term for this process is “scoping” and, according to Corden, it is a normal process in video game development.
