The tickets for the Pokémon GO Fest 2022 cost just under 17 euros and should bring special benefits to players. But they are now calling the event a rip-off.

Update from 6/6/2022: After the Pokémon GO Fest 2022, the fans are becoming more and more dissatisfied with the Shinys during the event weekend. on Twitter the Pokémon GO Hub account started a poll on how they would feel about the increased chance of Shinys and how they vary during the celebrations. The result is shockingly clear: 75% of all respondents are “not satisfied” and would have expected more. On the other hand, less than 3.9% chose “awesome” as the most positive answer option.

Several comments on the survey say they only spotted one Shiny in an entire day. In the eyes of fans, that falls far short of Niantic’s advertised “increased chance” of shiny Pokemon. Meanwhile, an official statement from Niantic on the situation at Pokémon GO Fest 2022 is still pending.

Pokémon GO Fest 2022: Event should be “rip-off” – players extremely frustrated

First report from 05.06.2022: San Francisco – Pokémon GO Fest 2022 took place on June 4th and 5th. This event has been celebrated for several years – every summer. The GO Fest takes place worldwide and can be “visited” by all trainers. In order to get even more rewards and bonuses, players can often also buy a ticket. But this year, fans are by no means happy with the ticket’s bonuses. The first voices on Reddit are that Niantic ripped off the players with the ticket.

These advantages came with a ticket: Anyone who bought a ticket to Pokémon GO Fest 2022 received special bonuses on both event days. These included a higher chance of Shinys, special Pokémon that are only attracted by smoke, and Shaymin special research. If you didn’t have a ticket, you didn’t get this special research either, and when you used smoke, only the usual Pokémon from the respective habitats were attracted. All bonuses for ticket buyers at a glance:

  • Collector challenge to all habitats
  • Exclusive event medal, avatar pose and avatar item
  • Special research with Shaymin
  • Short special research “Welcome, Rhi!”
  • Increased chance of certain Shiny Pokémon on Saturday
  • Generally increased chance of shinys for the event
  • Unown B, G, O, U are attracted by smoke
  • Event stickers from PokéStops
  • Up to nine Raid Passes per day
  • Free ticket to the closing event

The advantages read quite well. That’s why some trainers also bought tickets to the Pokémon GO Fest 2022. But now the first critical voices are being raised. Because fans are not at all satisfied with the rewards received.

That’s why fans complain: on Reddit the first fan of the Pokémon GO Fest 2022 has already complained. According to user EvilTortoise396, developer Niantic would have the players “completely ripped off“. As he or she elaborates further:

These shiny probabilities are so broken it’s not even funny. I honestly believe that everyone who bought a ticket was completely scammed. The prices aren’t like last year and they should have said they’re the [Shiny-Wahrscheinlichkeiten] have reduced. I regret buying this horrible event and they should repeat this event. Niantic, you’ve lost all my respect.
