On May 27th, DrDisrespect held its own $100,000 Fortnite tournament. Tfue emerged victorious, beating out the biggest names in the game.

Cary, North Carolina – Fortnite has been responsible for launching quite a few careers. Since its release, the Battle Royale from Epic Games has spawned fresh e-sportsmen and streamers and has catapulted names like Ninja into completely unimagined spheres of popularity. Some of these contestants recently met in a Fortnite tournament organized by DrDisrespect himself. Tfue was won by someone who had turned his back on the game just a few months ago.

Fortnite: DrDisrespect Grand Tournament brings the most prominent players in esports on board

What was that tournament? Epic Games has the Champion Series as its official esports tournament, which runs alongside each season in Battle Royale. But the game still has self-organized tournaments. So now DrDisrespect has launched its own tournament. On May 27th, the “Hot Shot Duo Drop featuring Fortnite” took place, for which the Doc and his team won a $100,000 pot. While the rules surrounding Dr Disrespect’s own Fortnite tournament were absurd, the participants didn’t really care.

Who was there? Pretty much everyone of Fortnite standing was represented at the Dr Disrespect tournament. From the Doc himself to well-known e-athletes such as Ninja, ZLaner and Summit1G to other major streamers from the English-speaking Twitch scene, the 16-strong roster was packed with stars. Also in attendance was Tfue, world ranked 158 in Fortnite and a former member of FaZe Clan.

Turner “Tfue” Tenney hasn’t been active in Fortnite for a while, but he’s made a decent comeback with the release of the Build Zero mode and showed at the Doc’s Tournament exactly why he’s such a strong player. Together with his duo partner Zemie he participated in the “Hot Shot Duo Drop‘ secured first place and $40,000 in prize money.

Fortnite: Tfue cleans up the competition in the Fortnite tournament

How did Tfue win? A very clear factor in Tfue’s victory at the Fortnite tournament is his downright inhuman aim. The e-sportsman regularly landed far more than 50% of the shots fired – especially in connection with one of his favorite weapons, the volley gun, an absolutely deadly combination. The other weapon that Tfue regularly had in his loadout, on the other hand, is causing more and more controversy. Many Fortnite players consider the drum shotgun, an automatic shotgun, to be grossly overpowered.

That’s not to say that Tfue only relied on overpowered weapons for victory, though. The focus that the e-sportsman shows in every situation is unparalleled. Anticipating shots correctly even without visual contact does not seem to be a problem for him at all. No wonder even DrDisrespect and Ninja, with whom Tfue once had a fierce rivalry, failed to make the top 3 of the tournament in such a competitive environment.
