The popular grand strategy wargame Hearts of Iron 4 by Paradox Interactive will be getting a new expansion later this year. By Blood Alone adds new alternate histories for Italy, Ethiopia and Switzerland to the game. There are also other innovations and an aircraft designer, after you can already equip ships and tanks yourself. You can watch the teaser trailer directly below this news.

Hearts of Iron 4 – By Blood Alone features include:

  • New Italian Focus Tree: You can follow the historical path of Mussolini’s Italy or rewrite history by restoring the power of the monarchy, leading a communist revolution or promoting democracy.
  • New Ethiopian Focus Tree: Defy the odds and defeat the Italian conqueror or resist the invader using the unique abilities of a government-in-exile.
  • New focus tree Switzerland: Surrounded by France, Germany and Italy, the mountain nation of Switzerland finds its strength in its neutrality, balancing between competing factions and offers from the great powers.
  • New options for peace conferences: You demilitarize individual zones or entire nations. You bid on the capital ships of defeated powers or claim control of enemy resources or factories as reparations.
  • Aircraft Designer: You design and build your own aircraft. From agile interceptors that prioritize speed to resilient bombers that drop tons of destruction from great heights.
  • Unit Medals: A log of each department’s performance allows you to track their performance and even award medals to those who did particularly well.
  • Embargo Interaction: With the new Diplomatic Interaction, you can now embargo your enemies, preventing them from trading with them if the enemies have generated enough world tension.
  • New Unit Models: More than 20 new unit models for the Italian, Ethiopian and Swiss armies.
  • New airplane models: 67 new airplane models.
  • Two new music tracks

As usual, the expansion will be accompanied by a major free update for all Hearts of Iron 4 players.
