Hollow Knight Silksong at Summer Game Fest: Tweet fuels anticipation

Is Silksong finally getting a release date?

Is Silksong finally getting a release date?

This Thursday, Summer Game Fest heralds a succession of shows designed to serve as a replacement for the canceled E3. What will be revealed at the event is still a mystery, but there are actually signs that we may finally be seeing Hollow Knight: Silksong again after its 2019 announcement.

That’s why Hollow Knight fans have hope for Silksong

Suspicious tweet: Summer Game Fest host and organizer Geoff Keighley teased the community on Twitter by announcing that “an amazing world premiere just arrived in the mailbox”. So far nothing unusual if Matthew Griffin, marketing manager at developer Team Cherry, would not have answered meaningfully: “I approve of this tease”.

Of course, many Silksong fans now believe that the Hollow Knight sequel will be shown at the event. At least they hope so, because it’s not certain, and fans have had their hearts broken so many times over the last few years.

But just a running gag? That could be the case again this time, because anyone who knows Keighley’s shows knows that “World Premiere” will only be recorded if there is a new announcement – and Hollow Knight: Silksong has already been announced. So is Team Cherry introducing a new project before Silksong gets a release date? Or is the studio just having fun with the Silksong meme? That would be really nasty.

Recently, Keighley slightly lowered expectations for big new announcements at Summer Game Fest (via VGC). Instead, the focus should be on trailers for already known projects. And in that respect, an appearance by Silksong would fit in again. Let us surprise.

Silksong could also be shown at the next Nintendo Direct

Should Hollow Knight: Silksong actually make an appearance at Summer Game Fest, the event would pre-empt the next Nintendo Direct, which is said to be taking place soon. Nintendo is rumored to be holding an E3-sized show next week. Silksong would then probably not be part of the party.

More news about Silksong:

This could be shown instead: With Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Splatoon 3, Nintendo has two highlights to offer for July and September, which will certainly be shown again in detail in advance. In addition, two other top titles are available at the end of the year with Pokémon Crimson and Crimson and Bayonetta 3 (both without a specific release date).

Do you have hopes that Silksong might be announced soon?
