The time is far from ripe for the remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time

The remake of Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is – at least so far – under a bad star.

After the recent change of developer, it is now clear that the title will no longer be launched in the 2023 financial year.

More time for the new studio

Ubisoft confirmed that the game has been phased out from retailers for the time being, while Ubisoft Montreal is taking care of the continuation of the project.

Originally, the remake was developed by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai. After being announced in September 2020, it was supposed to be released in January 2021, but has since been postponed several times.

Finally, Ubisoft drew the line and gave the project to Ubisoft Montreal.

“We are proud of the work that Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai have done,” it said in a recent release opinion of the publisher. “Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their experience as the new team will continue the work to deliver a great remake.”

“As a consequence, we are no longer planning a FY2023 release and the game has been discontinued for the time being. If players wish to cancel their pre-order, they can contact their retailer. You will be kept updated on the project while the development progresses.”

A new release period has not yet been determined. But definitely nothing will happen here before 2023.
