Just Cause 5 is in development, Square Enix confirms

A new Just Cause, let’s just call it Just Cause 5, is in development.

Publisher Square Enix has confirmed this almost casually and has not yet hung on the big bell.

A new part is coming

During an investor briefing confirmed the publisher that Just Cause remains an IP of the company and that a “new title” in the series is in development.

But that’s basically all we know so far. It is still unclear whether Avalanche Studios is responsible for it and whether Rico Rodriguez will play the leading role again.

It would be unusual if neither were the case, but you never know.

Just Cause 4, the most recent installment in the open-world action series, was released in 2018, with Just Cause 3 released three years earlier.

Unfortunately, the investor briefing does not reveal how far the development has progressed. It’s hard to say whether we might get an official announcement or a teaser at this week’s Summer Game Fest.
