Aliens – Dark Descent: Iso perspective squad shooter

Aliens - Dark Descent () von 20th Century Games

There they are again, the most famous xenomorphs in film and video game history. A first CGI trailer is intended to convey the mood and there is also a brief second of gameplay to see.

Put aside the Pulse Rifle after countless hours playing Aliens: Fireteam? Then better shoulder it again, because the caustic beasts have to serve as cannon fodder in a new game again.

Ever been mistaken for a man?

The render trailer for the squad-based single-player experience shows where the journey is headed. The player assembles his team, equips it with a weapon appropriate to the area of operation and other gadgets, and then faces the alien horde. Before the inevitable confrontation occurs, defense lines can be set up with a turret, or you can try to gain time by simply welding the doors together. It is wise to study the combat zone inside a seemingly abandoned space station beforehand in order to take a shortcut in an emergency or to have a clever ambush ready. The material shown is strongly reminiscent of James Cameron’s Aliens variant, creepy atmosphere á la Alien: Isolation is certainly not to be expected here.

Once dead, always dead

The developers want to create a special thrill by having a perma-death feature hanging over the task force like a sword of Damocles. If a colleague is overrun by aliens and his brain is pierced, he remains missing for the remainder of the game. At the end of the trailer, you can get a very brief glimpse of the gameplay, shown in an isometric perspective. There is no exact release date yet, but sometime in 2023 the aliens will be unleashed again on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X.
