According to a media report, Apple is said to be developing some interesting new Mac models for the next year. A 15-inch MacBook Air is reportedly planned for 2023. A new 12-inch laptop and upgrades for the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are also said to be in the works.

As Bloomberg reported that Apple is aiming for a spring 2023 release for its 15-inch MacBook Air. The “wider version of the 13.6-inch MacBook”, as Bloomberg calls it, is supposed to be even slimmer, have an M2 chip and do without the wedge-shaped structure of the predecessor.

Apple originally planned to release the 15-inch version of the MacBook Air alongside this year’s 13.6-inch model. But then the company decided to only focus on the smaller model and postpone the larger model until spring 2023, according to the news portal.

The first new 12-inch laptop since 2019

Apple is also said to be developing a new 12-inch laptop. The launch is planned for late 2023 or early 2024. Except for the fact that the laptop will have an Apple chip, nothing is currently known about the model with the new old form factor. If Apple doesn’t surprisingly scrap the device, it would be the smallest Apple laptop since the end of the 12-inch MacBook in 2019.

Small upgrades for the 14- and 16-inch variants of the MacBook Pro

And last but not least, Apple is probably still working on upgrades for the 14- and 16-inch versions of the MacBook Pro. According to Bloomberg, however, it should not be about “radically new products”. For the new models, which have the code names J414 and J416, only faster chips, specifically the M2 Pro and M2 Max, are planned. The release is planned for the end of 2022, but could be postponed to spring 2023, notes Bloomberg.
