Last of Us Remake has even more accessibility options and wants to make full use of PS5 features

Naughty Dog hat mit TLoU eine Menge vor.

The Last of Us will be brought to a wider audience with the PS5 version.

The cat’s finally been out of the bag since Summer Game Fest and we now officially know that Naughty Dog is working on a PS5 remake of The Last of Us. The more recent title The Last of Us Part 2 has already demonstrated how accessibility features can be used judiciously to bring the title to a wider audience. And that’s exactly what the remake of The Last of Us wants to take as a model and also improve accessibility for people with disabilities.

More accessibility features in The Last of Us Part 1

The sequel The Last of Us 2 had over 60 accessibility features that could make playing a lot easier. These include options for people with visual, hearing and motor impairments such as accessibility features, alternate controls and magnification of items. PlayStation has already confirmed that all of these features will be included in The Last of Us Remake.

What features will there be? Since the settings are carried over from TLoU 2, it is possible, for example, to use the same stick for aiming and moving. In addition, the repeated button presses can be changed to a button hold, or the automatic aiming at enemies and collection of items can be set.

Everything we know so far about the remake of The Last of Us can be found here:

In addition, the remake will offer adjustable font sizes, scalable HUDs and contrast settings, which will make it easier to follow the game, especially for visually impaired people. A complete list of all features from The Last of Us 2 can be found at Naughty Dog Find.

Although the options in Part 2 were already very good, there was still room for improvement. For example, the controller cannot be completely freely reassigned. Here Part 1 can hopefully also follow suit.

Digital Deluxe Edition has special features

In addition to the Standard Edition, The Last of Us Part 1 will have one Digital deluxe edition which will be even more accessible than the Standard Edition. It contains the following features that you don’t have to unlock in the course of the game:

  • 2 skill upgrades
  • Pistol/Rifle Upgrade
  • explosive arrows
  • Dark Blue Filter
  • fast run mode
  • 6 weapon skins

The start of The Last of Us Part 1 is designed to be even more accessible, mainly due to the early access to some improvements. Of course it would have been nice if there had been this option for all players.
