Sony and Naughty Dog have now officially unveiled The Last of Us Part 1, a completely remastered version of the original 2013 game. The remake is due out on September 2 this year for PS5 and is in development for PC. Naughty Dog also teased a multiplayer offshoot of the franchise.

The prediction of a leaker on Twitter about a possible remake of The Last of Us comes true. This bears the addition “Part 1”, will be released on September 2, 2022 for the Playstation 5 and is currently in development for the PC. Sony presented a trailer that gives a glimpse of what fans of The Last of Us can look forward to in about three months.

Fundamentally renewed, true to the original remake for 80 euros

On the official product page of Playstation.com The Last of Us Part 1 is described as being rebuilt from the ground up, using the latest technology from developer Naughty Dog’s PS5 engine. This enables “state-of-the-art visual fidelity” on the one hand and “fully integrated dual sense wireless controller functions” on the other. According to Sony, Part 1 is also a faithful remake that lets players experience the story of the protagonists Joel and Ellie in the post-apocalyptic USA.

Sony also mentions modernized gameplay mechanics, improved controls and expanded accessibility options for the remake. The Last of Us Part 1 continues to offer improvements in effects, facial animations, exploration, combat and storytelling. Meanwhile, The Last of Us Part 1 can be pre-ordered in two different editions: On the one hand, the standard edition is available for 79.99 euros, which contains the entire story of The Last of Us including the prologue chapter “Left Behind”. On the other hand, there is also a Digital Deluxe Edition, which offers a few other smaller features and therefore costs 10 euros more.

Naughty Dog also presented concept art for a multiplayer spin-off for The Last of Us with its own storyline, which it says is set to grow to massive proportions and will provide more information about it in the coming year. There should also be an HBO show about The Last of Us. The protagonist is embodied in it by Pedro Pascal.
