Destiny 2 could have such a cool strike loot, but it is better sold for real money in the shop

In Destiny 2, Bungie introduces new ornaments to the Eververse Store each Season. In the current “Season of the Haunted”, the space shooter now even has legendary cosmetic items with an exotic synergy special effect brought on the market. But the community wasn’t happy about it. MyMMO tells you why.

What are these armor ornaments? These are the new Legendary Armor Ornaments in the Eververse Store. Each class has an ornament that players can purchase for 600 silver.

If you haven’t seen them yet, we’ve included pictures of the eye-catchers for you.

The special thing about these ornaments is that they even get special visual effects if you equip the right exotic to go with them.

  • For hunters: “Cloak of Bakris” matching the exo-helmet “Mask of Bakris”
  • For Warlocks: “Battle Harmony Bond” to match the “Battle Harmony Mantle” exo chest
  • For Titans: “Sign of the Shooting Star” to match Exo Chest “Harness of the Shooting Star”

You can tell at first glance that Bungie has put a lot of effort into these purchasable outfits. Despite this, many players agree. These ornaments would have been better placed in the Strike playlist.

Cool Ornaments – Why not put them in Strikes?

This is exactly what many players are asking in Destiny 2. Why weren’t these outfits added to the Strike playlist loot pool so that players finally have a reason and a new incentive to play them again. Even the YouTuber nKuch had himself under the happy post from community manager dmg04 commented on the ornaments:

Don’t get me wrong, this is super cool and I want it… but we need cool shit like this as Strike specific/Dusk specific loot. I want to experience that feeling of getting something super cool and rare after farming for a while.

For years, the normal strikes in Destiny 2 have had no incentive to be played, except for the weekly loot when a player still wants to level up, or for the godroll of a master weapon from the twilight.

Gone are the days of Destiny 1 where every normal strike could earn at least one specific item after hard farming. But why not bring something back? With the newly introduced ornaments in the Everversum shop, Bungie proves that such a loot is possible and can even be realized with special “synergetic” effects for exotics.

How could Bungie package the loot? Since a lot has already been taken over from Destiny 1, you could easily use the old system here as well. In Destiny 1, for example, there were the skeleton keys and special chests. These chests could be opened with the mentioned keys at the end of a strike to guarantee something specific. However, the keys were so rare that they could not be used indefinitely and could only be won with a lot of luck.

And even if you don’t want to use this system, it would be enough to simply add the ornaments as a particularly rare loot for each individual strike. Many Guardians aren’t picky, but there has to be a reason to motivate them to play these activities over the long term.

Destiny 1 had a frightening number of items in the strike loot: If you compare the existing strike loot in Destiny 1 with that in Destiny 2, you realize how much this PvE mode needs the loot.

We’re listing all known items from Destiny 1 & 2 here, so you can compare how much and what you could hunt for in the old version of the loot shooter:

Destiny 1: Strike Loot Destiny 2: Strike Loot
Devil’s Dawn (sniper rifle) Compulsory (Auto Rifle)
Sepik’s Dethroned Bond (Warlock Bond) Shadow Price (Auto Rifle)
Hood of Malok (Hunter Helm) Discord SR4 (Scout Rifle)
Ogre Mongrel Grips (Hunter’s Gauntlets) Horror’s Minimum (Pulse Rifle)
Consuming Maw (Warlock Helm) TVO (Hand Cannon)
Baron’s Ambition (Machine Gun) The Palindrome (Hand Cannon)
Imago Loop (Hand Cannon) The Mind Twister’s Pursuit (Shotgun)
Mark of the Immortal Spirit (Titan Mark) Whiplash (Grenade Launcher)
Arc Flayer Overcoat (Hunter Cloak) PLUG ONE.1 (Fusion Rifle)
Solar Flayer Overcoat (Hunter’s Cloak) Silicon Neuroma (Sniper Rifle)
Void Flayer Overcoat (Hunter’s Cloak) The Hothead (rocket launcher)
Star Threads (Scout Rifle) The Swarm (machine gun)
Who Does Not Submit (Auto Rifle) Trichromatica (Spirit Shell)
Taniks’ Cloak (Hunter’s Cloak) Universal wave function (ship)
Mau’ual’s Pummeler (Titanium Gauntlets) Tilt Fuse (Sparrow)
Dark Knight Helm (Titan Helm) Impact Speed (Sparrow)
Dark Knight’s Malice (Fusion Rifle) Worm God Incarnation (Teleport Effect)
Grip of Malok (Pulse Rifle)
Omnigul’s Bond (Warlock Bond)
Stolen Will (Shotgun)
Theosyion’s Vibrissae (Warlock Gauntlets)
Sign of the Dissolved Nexus (Titan Sign)

At first glance, this looks pretty solid for Destiny 2, but keep in mind that half of the items listed are either in the content vault or not in the Strike rotation in Season 17.

The items in Destiny 1, however, can still be grabbed at will and at any time if you get the right strike in the playlist.

This is not the case in Destiny 2. You even have to go into the twilight to get the weapons listed, otherwise you won’t get anything from the listed strike loot.

What is also difficult to see are the non-existent armor, which the development team prefers to bring to the Eververse shop, as in this case. It’s possible that Bungie believes it can fill this gap in PvE with dungeons and raids, but that’s just a guess.

Players just want to decorate themselves with trophies from their battles, and now that includes these extra cool items from bosses in Strikes. Destiny 2 now has enough weapons that such synergistic armor ornaments would certainly be a new and special incentive for the guardians.

And now to you, how do you like the offered ornaments? Do you think they’re cool and did you even treat yourself to them, or do you think it’s cheeky and Bungie would have really put such synergy ornaments better as a very special loot in the strikes? Let us know your opinions!
