Resident Evil 2 Remake: Raytracing update increases system requirements

Capcom announced the ray tracing upgrade for the Resident Evil 2 remake in March 2022. The Japanese company announced today that after the update, the title will no longer support the DX11 API.

The end for old graphics cards without DX12 support

Only DirectX 12 should be supported, it says in one Updating on Steam. This limitation has the effect of increasing the PC requirements for the title, since not all graphics cards support DX12.

Nvidia users will then need at least a GTX 960, while players with an AMD GPU will need at least a Radeon RX 460. Players who own a GTX 760 or the AMD Radeon R7 260x, for example, can no longer start the game after the patch.

When exactly the upgrade will appear has not yet been officially confirmed. A leak indicates a timely release. It could therefore be possible to benefit from the optical improvements as early as next week.
