Forza Motorsport 8: Details on top-class racing action

Turn 10 Studios and Microsoft detail Forza Motorsport (8). The racing game will be released in spring 2023.

Forza Motorsport 8 will be released in Spring 2023 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Microsoft is really going full throttle and packing the racing game directly into the Xbox Game Pass.

New details about Forza Motorsport 8 have now been announced and spectacular screenshots have also been released that are unparalleled in the level of detail in a Forza game.

The unprecedented graphic splendor in Forza Motorsport 8 is achieved through real-time ray tracing. There are also better physics, dynamic times of day and an incredibly realistic damage model.

Turn 10 Studios promises realistic vehicle damage that affects the car with new simulation details. The level of detail here is also incredibly high and continues in the direction of perfectionism. Even isolated scratches on the bodywork are reproduced and during your laps you can watch and feel the paint peeling off exposed and raised edges, the wheels being ground down and dirt gradually being deposited on the bodywork.

It was also announced that the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and Laguna Seca Raceway tracks will return in Forza Motorsport 8. Also featured was the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, a South African track that will make its debut in Forza Motorsport. Also new is the Circuit Hakone in Japan, an original high-speed Grand Prix track.

Chris Esaki, Creative Director of Forza Motorsport, Turn 10 Studios announces: “Forza Motorsport was built from the ground up for the new Xbox Series X|S consoles. The accuracy of the overhauled physics, the beauty of the cars and tracks, the new dynamic times of day, advanced vehicle damage and real-time ray tracing on the track result in a veritable quantum leap in terms of immersion. This makes the all-new Forza Motorsport the most technically advanced racing game ever created.”

“Fundamental to Forza Motorsport is the fully dynamic time-of-day system, which changes races at any moment and brings the tracks to life in breathtaking detail. Changes in the time of day alter ambient and track surface temperatures. This in turn affects the traction of your car – similar to rubber and general weather conditions. These new simulation details add even more depth, drama and dynamics to the racing experience.”

“We have completely redesigned the actual driving experience to take full advantage of the performance of the new Xbox console generation. This even improves the accuracy of the physics simulation by a factor of 48.”

“Based on your feedback, we’ve introduced new features like tire and fuel management, different tire compounds, and a new detailed car build to create the ultimate racing game. All of these configuration possibilities come to life in the pit lane, where advanced materials and shaders coupled with ray tracing ensure the right visuals. Discover never-before-seen graphic details in the gold heatwrap, anodized aluminum and carbon fibers on your car. The ray tracing is particularly effective in the engine compartments with their complex light reflections.”

In case you missed it, here are gameplay footage straight from the Xbox Series X console of the popular Maple Valley track. There are more impressions of the game in the Forza Motorsport 8 screenshot gallery.
