WoW Classic makes fans happy, brings “Fresh Start” to Wrath of the Lich King

WoW Classic wants to delight fans of “Wrath of the Lich King” with “Fresh Start” realms. MeinMMO tells you what that means.

The next expansion for the retail version of World of Warcraft, Dragonflight, will probably not be released this year. But it’s different for fans of “WoW Classic”. They’ll still be able to enjoy the “Wrath of the Lich King Classic” in 2022. Now Blizzard has promised that a special wish from the classic community will also come true:

With the launch of Wrath of the Lich King, there will be fresh new realms starting from scratch.

When are the Fresh Start realms coming out? Along with the launch of the Wrath of the Lich King Classic pre-patch. There is no exact date for this yet, only the year 2022 is already certain.

What exactly are “fresh” realms? Put simply, realms that are completely fresh and unaffected by existing players. Everyone starts together at level 1 and no one can access the gold fortune of existing characters, for example. A whole new, fresh community is forming on this realm that wants to venture into Wrath of the Lich King together.

What are the rules on the realms? Unlike the other realms, which just seamlessly transition from Burning Crusade Classic to Wrath of the Lich King Classic, the “Fresh” realms have some limitations and peculiarities. These are:

• It will not be possible to boost a character on this realm for at least 90 days.
• It will not be possible to transfer a character to this realm for at least 90 days.
• Death knights can only be created on these realms if there is at least one level 55 character on the same realm.

That being said, all Classic and Burning Crusade dungeons are available immediately on the Fresh Start realms.

What is that supposed to help? The intent behind these “Fresh Start” realms is relatively clear. Blizzard would like to make WotLK Classic attractive for newcomers. After all, it’s a bigger hurdle to get into an MMORPG where the majority of players have been collecting resources and gold for many years. It’s almost impossible to catch up with that.

At the same time, there is always the desire in the existing Classic community to start from scratch. With fresh realms to WotLK that will be possible.
