Starfield: How long is the main quest line? Todd Howard reveals
Even if you can lose yourself in the worlds of Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 3 or Fallout 4 for hundreds of hours, the respective main quest series can be played through quite quickly. How about Starfield?
As Todd Howard at the Starfield gameplay premiere proudly reported that more than 100 systems with more than 1,000 planets awaited us, we immediately had to think of a statement that the most recent Kotaku report on crunch and mismanagement in Fallout 76 came to the table: The game director and executive producer of Bethesda Game Studios is said to live a “bigger is better” design philosophy. Many games in the past have proven that this is often not true.

As a result, many players are now concerned that a procedurally generated universe full of boredom awaits us. In an interview with IGN (via Eurogamer), however, the same Todd Howard stated that Starfield will have more hand-designed content than any other Bethesda game to date.
This should include four capitals alone, with New Atlantis being the largest city the team has ever built. If you don’t feel like exploring every planet in the universe, you can of course focus fully on the main quest line again this time. According to Todd Howard, it should be around 30 to 40 hours long. For comparison: For the main quest line in Skyrim, players need loud howlongtobeat on average 37 hours. If you want to see and master everything, you have to schedule an average of 250 hours. Starfield could easily surpass the latter value with its huge universe.
