Starfield: The main story is 30 to 40 hours long

Starfield’s main story will keep you busy for around 30 to 40 hours, according to Game Director Todd Howard.

In this regard, the game is about 20 percent larger than Skyrim or Fallout 4 due to its number of quests.

More to do in Starfield

“This game takes a little longer [als unsere vorherigen Spiele] and we might tweak it a bit more,” Howard told IGN. “It’s more quests, so maybe 20% more than the previous games.”

And if you ignore most of the side activities, you could end up with 30 to 40 hours, he says.

More handmade

According to Howard, Starfield includes more handcrafted content than any previous Bethesda game, although the 1,000 planets also make use of procedurally generated content.

“We also made sure that you know what it is about [bei den prozeduralen Inhalten] “So if you look at space, you know there are a lot of ice balls there. So that was one of our big design considerations with this game: ‘What’s fun about an ice ball? And sometimes it’s okay if ice balls aren’t fun – they are what they are.”

“We’d rather tell you, ‘Hey, you can land on this planet.’ Here are the resources, you can explore it, and then you can land and spend ten minutes there and say, ‘Okay, now I’m going to go off and back to the other planet that has all this other content, and I’m going to be this one Follow quest line.”

“So we’re pretty cautious about saying, ‘This is fun, this is this type of content’. But we give the player the option and say, ‘You want to land on this weird planet, him explore and build an outpost, live your life there and watch the sunset because you like the view of the moons there? Go for it.’ We love that kind of thing.”

Starfield will be released in 2023 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
