What is supraland?

The player explores a vast interconnected world where most paths are initially impassable until they find new skills to overcome these obstacles. A cornerstone of the design of Supraland, according to the developer, was to create skills that are so versatile that the variety of uses never ceases to amaze. As the player combines their skills, the possibilities become even more numerous.

The game is mainly about exploring the world of a sandbox and uncovering mysteries. The player will often reach a point where he believes he is about to go out of bounds and that the level designer has failed, but right there a chest with a worthwhile upgrade awaits. Supraland respects the player’s time and does not artificially prolong playtime with endless simple collecting tasks. For the German developer, who developed the game almost alone, it was important that you can solve a puzzle fairly quickly once you get the idea behind it, instead of having to follow a cumbersome and boring solution path.

The combat mechanics are inspired by classic fast-paced shooters like Unreal, Doom or Quake and encourage quick sideways movements and jumps while constantly shooting at invading hordes of enemies without having to reload.
