Hasbro Unveils First NERF Pet And Fans Aren’t Sure How To Feel

Murph, the terrifying new nerf pet, is confusing Twitter users

NERF finally has a mascot… but the internet isn’t really sure how to feel about it, leading to some hilarious reactions and memes online in response to its unusual design.

NERF is a timeless brand. Known for their toy dart shooters, water shooters, and even minecraft themed crossbows, is a multi-generational toy company that provides entertainment for gamers big and small.

However, throughout its entire existence, NERF has never had a mascot. Sure, the tagline “It’s NERF or nothing” is great, but the sheer variety of products it offers overshadows the need for a main character rep.

That is, until now. Hasbro just released the first NERF pet, and it’s not what you’d expect.

Murph is… unique.

The mascot’s name is ‘Murph’ and he has his own catchphrase: “Unleash the game in you.”

It appears that Murph is an amorphous humanoid made entirely of NERF darts, and people on Twitter aren’t sure how to feel about him, going so far as to call him “scary.”

Alex Zalben, managing editor of Decider, wrote a rather amusing caption for one of Murph’s images circulating online: “No no, Murph isn’t hunting you for sport and your delicious human flesh, he’s simply trying to unleash the game.” in you.”

Another user had a hilarious edit of Murph as the Scarlet Witch as seen in ‘Infinity War,’ and we have to admit, it’s a pretty proper photoshop job.

Others are left with some burning questions, like this Twitter user who can’t seem to figure out if Murph’s darts grow like hair or are cut like wool:

Whatever the case, it looks like Murph is here to stay…whether he puts us off or not. After all, he can’t help it. He is covered in NERF darts.
