If you’re an Instagram user, you’ve probably sent a direct message or two throughout your time on the app, but if you want to clear up some of the clutter, here’s how to delete Instagram direct messages.

Instagram is one of the largest social media platforms in the world, and for many years, it has been one of the first places people go to update their friends and followers with the latest snapshots of their lives.

One of the most used features of the app is undoubtedly the DM feature, which stands for “direct message”.

This feature allows users to send each other private messages, whether it’s to send a funny post they’ve seen or just to have a text conversation.

However, if you have too many messages in your inbox, you may want to sort through and delete some of them. That is how.

How to delete an Instagram post

When it comes to getting rid of other people’s messages, the only way to do it is by deleting the conversation.

To do so, simply follow these steps:

  1. Open Instagram.
  2. get into your messages tab by clicking the icon Right upper corner.
  3. on iPhone, swipe left on, or on Android, tap and hold the conversation you want to delete.
  4. Click ‘Erase,’ after ‘Erase’ again to confirm.

It’s worth noting that deleting a conversation only deletes it for you, and other people in the conversation will still be able to see it.

To delete an individual message you have sent, you can unsend it by long pressing on the message you want to get rid of and clicking ‘unsend’.
