Riot Games just revealed the next champion coming to League of Legends, and will bring a lot of joy to the Rift.
Nilah “of the seventh layer”, as introduced, was revealed in the latest Riot teaser This day. She was teased during the Champion Roadmap in April as a colorful stranger from a faraway land and was further hinted at in a short sneak peek yesterday.
Some leaks about Nilah began to circulate in early June, but the official name and appearance of the new bot laner were not confirmed until today. Nilah’s abilities were also shown in the trailer. Wielding a colorful and flowing whip, Nilah appears to be able to dash towards her enemies and slam her whip into the ground, leaving a liquid trail behind her. Another one of her abilities seems to grant her protection against auto attacks while she leaves her exposed to damage from enemy abilities. It also appears that this ability and effect can be shared with Nilah’s allies.
The last ability shown in the trailer shows Nilah creating a kind of vortex around herself as she swings her whip and damages opponents in the area. Within seconds of activating that ability, Nilah finds herself surrounded by hands, a design feature of hers that also appears in one of the champion’s animations.
Wearing a monk’s robes, Nilah travels through Runeterra to confront and crush all manner of evil that, according to new League champion, they have become too “comfortable” in the world. Also, he seems to be borrowing the power of a demon he calls the “Lord of the Waters” to fight against his enemies.
Although most of Nilah’s abilities are shown in the first official trailer along with some details about her backstory, League fans can expect to get more official information about her in the coming weeks. It hasn’t been long since Bel’Veth was released, but Nilah could be hitting the Rift later this month to brighten up the summer.
