Last of Us Part 3: Brilliant mod sends Joel and Ellie to God of War

Along with God of War, The Last of Us is considered one of Sony’s most important brands. A modder has now combined both worlds.

Los Angeles – The story of The Last of Us is a story about transience, human abysses, a father’s love for his foster daughter and about the fact that almost nothing in this world lasts. However, what will definitely stand the test of time is the sheer endless wealth of ideas and creativity in the modding scene. A fan has now involuntarily merged the two Playstation hits God of War and The Last of Us.

Who is behind the mod? The modder “Omega Fantasy” has recently published a series of videos in which he publishes mods for various Playstation games. In the last few months he seems to have been particularly taken with the PC version of God of War. Whether special swords, the Doomslayer as the new boss or a version of Kratos with a beer belly, the resourceful programmer seems to take great pleasure in turning virtual worlds upside down. His latest mod mixes The Last of Us with God of War and sends Joel and Ellie to Midgard. He captured what it all looked like in a YouTube video.

What makes the mod so special? Joel and Kratos swap roles, with Ellie taking the place of Atreus and grabbing a bow and arrow. Of course, the core God of War game remains largely unchanged, but you now control Joel through the snowy mountains instead of Kratos. Purely on a game mechanics level, the two titles could hardly differ from each other. While Joel and Ellie often have to go unnoticed to avoid the dangerous clickers, Kratos would probably make short work of the mutated mushroom creatures from the apocalypse.

What else does the mod change? However, Omega Fantasy not only exchanged the character models of Kratos and Atreus, but also replaced the draugr with clickers. In addition, the mod added some lines of dialogue from the post-apocalyptic setting so that Joel and Ellie can even talk “properly” in their new world. The video hit the internet altogether on a positive response. “The Last of Us Part 3 looks great!” joked users in the YouTube comments.

Even if the mod is far from perfect, it once again impressively proves how large and creative the fan base behind Sony’s brands is.

God of War and Last of Us – new games are already on the horizon

What’s next for God of War and The Last of Us? Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait much longer for new fodder for both brands: developer Naughty Dog recently announced a remake of the first “Last of Us” title and a television series is also currently in production. With God of War: Ragnarök, the sequel to the series is already in the starting blocks and is scheduled for release later this year for PS5 and PS4. However, it is not yet known whether there will also be a PC version for this title. The modding scene would definitely be happy.
