RTS hope Starship Troopers: Terran Command - How did the Steam launch go?

Starship Troopers: Terran Command was released on Steam a few days ago – with success? PCGH looks at user feedback.

Not that many real-time strategy games are appearing under major licenses either – reason enough to check out how Starship Troopers: Terran Command from hardcore strategy publisher Slitherine is being received by Steam players. After postponements, the time had finally come last week.

How does Starship Troopers – Terran Command arrive?

After some delays, the time had come on June 16, 2022: The sci-fi RTS Starship Troopers: Terran Command from developer The Artistocrats celebrated its premiere on Steam – without Early Access. At first glance, the serve seems to have been successful: there are almost 1,900 user reviews on Steam and approval is 85 percent. However, there are still some negative aspects that go in the direction of missed opportunities. So it is regretted that the RTS does not offer any multiplayer or at least an infinite horde mode. Also, some players are missing the original soundtrack of the first film. Some critics see difficulty in long-term engagement without a map editor or skirmish. The developer could counteract this with content updates. Some RTS players are bothered by a lot of unnecessary micromanagement.

Based on the 1997 sci-fi film of the same name, Starship Troopers: Terran Command puts the player in the middle of the great conflict between humans and bugs. The campaign is set to feature 21 missions in which mobile infantry forces go to war against the Bugs on planets such as the Bug homeland of Klendathu and the desert planet of Kwalasha. A multiplayer mode is not planned – but a skirmish mode with special challenges.
