Genshin Impact: Hey HoYoverse, when is your rhythm game coming out?

The mini-games in Genshin Impact have always been “yeah, really nice” for me over the past year, but so far none have really grabbed me. Now, for the first time, HoYoverse has conjured up an event game that I really like – and makes me want more. Hence the question: When is the Genshin-style beat game coming?

Thank you for the Music, Genshin Impact!

A very, very big plus point of Genshin Impact is the soundtrack: Somewhere between fantasy, delicate ballad sounds, epic orchestral sound and action-packed rock music, with a splash of Chinese and Japanese music culture, the sound in the game just sweeps me away again and again.

Now, as part of Update 2.7, Genshin has released a mini-game dedicated entirely to music in seven tracks, namely a rhythm game. The Arataki Gang’s drum festival is all about timing and reaction time, because you always have to press keys for different songs at exactly the right moment – usually matching the beat of the piece of music.

I really started Genshin about nine months ago, but in that time this drumming game was definitely the mini-game I enjoyed the most!

The Drumfest was the only challenge that I happily continued to play and voluntarily maxed out all game results even though I had already dusted off the rewards. I wasn’t just interested in the loot for the rest of the game, I was also interested in having fun with the mini-game itself and that shows how much potential the whole thing has for me.

Genshin Impact’s Drumfest features a handful of songs ranging from funny to soulful to downright dramatic.

I’ll admit: I’m not exactly a beat game pro, the last games like that were from my childhood and for me it was just so extremely refreshing to play something like that again. So for rhythm fans, the little challenge is certainly nothing special, but the simple presentation of the Genshin drumming with no frills was a perfect start to the genre again for me. With an emphasis on “Start”, because: I would love to have more of it!

Crypt of the WaifuDancer?

A real full rhythm game in the Genshin setting, I’d be hooked! Forget a big framing: just a more complex version of the minigame with an extensive song library and my heart between Genshin addiction and music love would be satisfied.

Well, it would be nice in a real beat game if the drum animation was also in time. In addition, you could, for example, add different instruments for the beat levels, exciting combo effects or special visuals depending on the character, but the basic framework is already in place.

That would probably be wonderfully cheesy, addictive and simply an ideal musical pastime for cozy casual hours of play.

In the current drum event for Genshin Impact you can also compose and share your own beat levels for the existing songs – there are already some really crisp custom rhythms to be found on the Internet!

I also thought the sometimes poetic song titles, each dedicated to a Genshin character, was a great idea because it got my imagination going. As a result, the pieces of music almost have something narrative about them and fit right into the world of Teyvat.

I had the dreamy, wandering samurai Kazuha in mind as I played his soulful track “Autumn Leaves on the Roaring Waves” – perhaps even my favorite of the seven beat numbers. But Yoimiya’s “fireworks in full bloom” also fits perfectly with the energetic archer, for example, and the quiet part with romantic pyro effects in the night sky.

In the Drum Fest event of update 2.7 in Genshin Impact, there is a beat minigame with a total of seven different tracks with different difficulty levels.

A beat game offshoot, a spin-off of the role-playing game – so Genshin would not exactly be the first franchise to release an additional rhythm game. Think of well-known series like Kingdom Hearts, Zelda, Persona and many, many more.

I don’t think that’s what HoYoverse is planning, but I’d take a game like this with great tracks and, best of all, the well-known characters from Genshin Impact who’ve got music fever.

Although I’m already smelling the Gatcha mechanics with cold sweat on my forehead: After all, unlocking the music catalog or the instruments with random throws doesn’t have to be the case! (Of course just a side joke and not a real plan by HoYoverse… but who knows?)

So, HoYoverse, you know what you have to do – oh and ps please don’t let Paimon on the vocal mic. I don’t know if I would ever recover from it.
