Player buys a weapon unique to his MMORPG for over €15,000

The German MMORPG classic Tibia Online is known for doing some things differently than in modern MMORPGs. For example, the developers release items for special occasions that are otherwise not found in the game. One such weapon is the Blessed Shield. This has now been sold for the equivalent of 15,690 euros.

What is this weapon? The Blessed Shield is one of the best weapons in Tibia. It was handed over to the player Elleshar by the developers in 1999. Elleshar previously helped with the graphic design for the game.

A few times the shield was sold until the trail is lost. It has even been speculated that the shield no longer exists. Now, however, it has reappeared and has been sold for 12 billion gold.

How much real money is that? In Tibia there is the possibility to trade ingame items for Tibia Coins. These coins, in turn, can be bought for real money.

12 billion gold corresponds to about 450,000 coins or the equivalent of 15,690 euros. That’s a lot of money for a single item. This makes it one of the most expensive items ever bought in MMOs for real money.

Buyer has Holy Trinity of rare items together

Who is the buyer? The buyer is the character Rei dos Antica. This is a level 7 druid. In reality, however, one of the most well-known traders in Tibia Online is said to be behind it, who probably has more than enough gold.

Because Rei dos Antica should not only have the Blessed Shield, but also two other items:

• The Magic Longsword, which first came into play accidentally and was then awarded once in a nerfed version. The sword was sold for 5.5 million gold years ago, but the value may be much higher now.
• Crown, a helmet distributed on the Antica server in 2000. This weapon is also only available once.

In a screenshot of the house of Rei dos Antica you can see the icons of the two items. So he has collected something like the Holy Trinity of rare items from Tibia.

What makes Tibia so special? The MMORPG Tibia Online was released in 1997 by German studio CipSoft and it’s still going strong today. This is also due to items that tell special stories. In addition, there are always mysterious puzzles or secrets that the players can’t solve even after years. In addition, there have been regular updates for 25 years.
