PS5 Slim: YouTuber builds his own ultra-thin slim version
the PS5 has been on the market for almost 1.5 years. If you look at the cycle of past console generations, it should take at least as long until Sony brings a thinner version onto the market. Already at the PS2the PS3 and the PS4 there were so-called slim versions.
one YouTuber the waiting time was obviously too long. So he just built his own version of the PS5 Slim. But that’s not all: He also installed a completely new water cooling system.

The YouTuber DIY perks specializes in remodeling technical devices such as consoles and laptops in fascinating ways. His latest project: the first PS5 Slim of the world.
the PS5 is Sony’s biggest console yet and actually somewhat oversized in its dimensions. The YouTuber’s plan to raise the entire device to a height of only 2 cm (slightly wider than a DVD case!) seems utopian. The result is therefore all the more impressive.
The biggest obstacle when attempting that PS5 shrinking is apparently the cooling, which takes up a lot of space. This replaced DIY perks therefore by water cooling. The housing consists entirely of copperwhich he says is almost as expensive as the console itself.
But it’s not that easy to supply the console with power and the water cooling keeping going becomes one second unit required, which is attached to the wall. The design is of course still impressive and even works.
He’s playing for the test YouTuber on a screen that matches the console Horizon Forbidden West and then measures the temperature in different parts of his new building. The built-in water cooling achieves this significantly better results than the original console.
