Survival hit Raft conquers Steam: Out of Early Access after more than four years

The survival adventure Raft, in which you are trapped on a raft in the middle of the ocean, has been in Early Access for more than four years. Three students from Sweden who founded the development studio Redbeet Interactive put Raft into Early Access on May 23, 2018. On June 20, 2022, the good news: Raft will officially be released in version 1.0. The developers have detailed what new content awaits the players with the start of the full version in their big message about the update on Steam collected.

Raft is currently making waves on Steam

But what about Raft’s debut on Steam? It’s something to be proud of, because the day of the release included the survival adventure on the high seas over 66,000 concurrent players. So it’s not without reason that Raft is currently leading the Ranking of popular releases on Steam on. As far as player feedback is concerned, it already reached positive highs last year during Early Access times. In August 2021, 92 percent of all user reviews submitted were positive. To date, over 150,000 reviews can be counted, while the percentage has now risen to 93 percent. So one can certify Raft and Redbeet Interactive a very successful start with version 1.0.

So the question that remains is why Raft is so popular with the masses. In the game you start out on the high seas with just a plastic hook on a small raft, while hunger and thirst gnaw at the player’s well-being. The goal, like in any survival game, is to survive. You can do this by collecting resources and building your own floating home with them. Of course, not only hunger and thirst are dangers for the player, but also the wild nature around one, which appropriately includes man-eating sharks.
