Which game was your personal highlight of the Microsoft and Bethesda Game Showcase naturally depends on your preferences. However, when it comes to technology, Forza Motorsport clearly had the bonnet ahead. Forza Horizon 5 already looks extremely impressive, but what Turn 10 is bringing to the table with the next motorsport installment could become a real benchmark for the new generation of consoles and the graphics showcase for the Xbox Series X that we have been waiting for for so long to have.

Forza Motorsport team answers key questions

in one blog post On the official Forza homepage, the studio gives us more insights into the details of the development. As we’ve known since the announcement, Forza Motorsport will feature real-time ray tracing during races – this is confirmed in the FAQ. But what about technology in general? At least according to the official information, the racing game seems to tease a lot out of the Series X and Series S:

  • Xbox Series X: 4K, 60fps
  • Xbox Series S: 1080p, 60fps

So does the game offer 4K/60 with ray tracing? Unfortunately, that is not clear. At first glance, the statements suggest so, but there is also a possibility that there will be several graphics options – for example with 1080p on the Series X or just 30 FPS. In this case, ray tracing might only be available if performance or resolution is scaled down. We’ll have to wait and see.

Day and night system: In addition to the pure graphics power, the realistic 24-hour cycle was also impressive. When the sun rises over the race track and the trees cast long shadows across the asphalt, a very special atmosphere arises. There is also a dynamic weather system that can surprise you with rain or strong gusts of wind.

When is the release? Forza Motorsport will be released in Spring 2023 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. A version for Xbox One has not yet been announced, but a leak suggests that Microsoft’s last-gen console will not go away empty-handed either. Of course, the title will be included in Game Pass at launch.

Do you think Forza Motorsport packs 4K/60 and ray tracing on the Series X?
