The new 4X historical strategy game Ara: History Untold was first announced during the Xbox Bethesda Games Showcase and presented with a first trailer.

It’s been a few days since the Xbox Bethesda Games Showcase, but it’s still making waves. The developer studio Oxide Games, together with Xbox Game Studios, announced Ara: History Untold, a new historical and turn-based strategy game for the PC.

The developer studio Oxide Games was previously known for the development of the real-time strategy game Ashes of the Singularity from 2016. Unlike this title, however, you don’t have to control massive battles with thousands upon thousands of units, but make global decisions like a 4X game .

Steam: Historical strategy game beats the competition

This is what Ara: History Untold offers

Similar to Civilization 6 or Humankind, in Ara: History Untold the player takes control of a nation and is allowed to tell its story through the ages. To do this, you explore unknown lands, promote the cultural products of your own society and either maintain good diplomatic relations with competing nations or achieve glorious victories against militarily inferior ones.

Oxide’s own Nitrous engine will be used as the technical basis for Ara: History Untold. According to the developers, the playing style and the decisions of the players should have a direct influence on the environment. This should influence the way and the life of one’s own people. It is not yet clear what that means in terms of gameplay, because the developers have not yet revealed so many game details. However, interested players can now register for the Insider program and will have the chance to try out the technical alpha in summer 2022.
