Over 2 meters high: Hobbyists build gigantic Xbox Series X that even works

This Series X is a world record.

This Series X is a world record.

Do you remember the Xbox Series X fridge? After the presentation of the console, the angular design was properly mocked on social media. Microsoft joined in the fun at the time and built a working refrigerator that looks like a Series X. Unfortunately, you can’t gamble with the device, but the hobbyist Michael Pick can help.

This Xbox Series X towers over (almost) all of us

It’s all about this: A video has appeared on The Casual Engineer channel in which Pick builds an Xbox Series X that even towers above the mentioned fridge and that can still be played with. The hobbyist proves this with a round of Halo and Minecraft. The whole thing is made possible because there is a normal Xbox Series X inside the gigantic shell.

Yes, the mega Xbox really works.

The many details are particularly cool. On the front we see the power button with the Xbox logo, the disc drive and the button for ejecting media. Even the ports on the back are identical to the real console, although of course they have no real function.

This brings the console on the scales: As Pick reveals in the video, the monumental Series X measures more than a meter in width and depth and over two meters in height. For its size, the console weighs surprisingly little at around 113 kilos.

In the video you can follow the process from the beginning:

With the construction, Michael Pick was able to set the Guinness World Record for the largest Xbox in the world, even if it is technically just a shell in which the real console is located. Incidentally, Pick did not keep the device – it is now in a clubhouse so that children can enjoy it.

From a similar project, only with a Game Boy, we report here:

PS5 Slim shows: It also goes in the other direction

Perhaps even more difficult than inflating a console is shrinking a console. Especially when there are as many parts and powerful fans in the device as there are in the PlayStation 5. However, DIY Perks made it happen and created the world’s first PS5 Slim. The copper design can certainly impress, even if the construction has its (hidden) snags, or rather pulls a rat’s tail behind it.

What do you think of the enormous Xbox – would you put it in your apartment?
