On June 23, your subscription to PS Plus will change. The standard subscription will become PS Plus Essential, and every regular PlayStation Plus member will end up on this new service for now. What’s happening on PS Plus? PlayStation’s subscription service is undergoing its biggest overhaul yet. The one-dimensional service becomes a three-fold offer. Instead of just one service option, you can choose from 3 different levels:

  • PS Plus Essential
  • PS Plus Extra
  • PS Plus premium

PS Plus Essential – Everything about games, prices, release

When is PS Plus Essential coming? PlayStation says it will start on June 23rd. However, no specific time is known yet. We expect a release either around noon or in the early evening around 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

What does PS Plus Essential bring? Basically, you get the well-known basic package here. The main content is access to online multiplayer and two free games as part of the subscription:

  • 2 “free” PS4 games per month
  • 1 “free” PS5 game per month
  • Online multiplayer
  • Exclusive offers on the PS Store
  • Cloud storage for your saved games
  • share play

What is changing compared to before? At the moment it looks like only the name of the Essential plan will change.

Initially, there was information from PlayStation that there would only be two monthly games. The PS Plus website is now talking about three games: two for PS4 and one for PS5 (via playstation.com).

How much does PS Plus Essential cost? You don’t have to change your mind when it comes to costs either:

  • 1 month €8.99
  • 3 months €24.99
  • 12 months €59.99

Who gets into another PS Plus subscription? If you have subscribed to the “PS Now” streaming service, your remaining time will be converted to the “PS Plus Premium” subscription. This offers you the usual streaming package with classics from PS1, PS2 and PS3, but also the content of “PS Plus Extra”.

In the extra package you will find tons of games for PS4 and PS5 in a kind of “Game Pass” that you can download at no additional cost. As soon as the official list of games for the German market is known, you will find a corresponding list on MeinMMO.
