Pokemon: New Lost Origins expansion introduced

Sword & Shield: Lost Origins, the latest expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, was revealed today.

Lost Origins will be available at participating retailers worldwide beginning September 9, 2022.

Nowhere mechanic is making a return

With Lost Origins, the nowhere game mechanic returns. This should “in all probability” turn the metagame in the trading card game “really upside down”.

“The Nowhere is similar to the discard pile, but players cannot jump these cards back into play,” it says. “Nowhere cards like Giratina VSTAR have a shadowy aura that comes from the art.”

The expansion is also based on the video game Pokémon Legenden Arceus and brings you more Hisui Pokémon, including Hisui Zoroark VSTAR and Hisui Viscogon VSTAR. There are also more Radiant Pokémon, such as Radiant Gardevoir. These are shiny Pokémon with embossed illustrations that have a powerful ability or attack.

Key new features of Lost Origin include:

  • Three new Radiant Pokémon
  • Six Pokémon VSTAR
  • 14 Pokémon V and one Pokémon VMAX
  • 30 cards featuring illustrations of the most popular trainers and Pokémon in the Trainer Gallery subset

Booster packs, top trainer boxes and special collections are offered.
