Nothing Phone 1: Presale initially by invitation only

from Alexander Ney
The specific specifications of the Phone 1 from Nothing are not yet known. Despite this – or perhaps because of it – the company is now starting pre-sales of the device. However, the Phone 1 cannot be pre-ordered in the normal way. Instead, interested parties have to put themselves on a waiting list and hope for an invitation code.

Nothing’s ‘transparent’ Phone 1 is now available for pre-order, but not through the usual channels. Instead, there is no way for interested parties to get involved in a waiting list to get an invitation code. At the time of this announcement, the list of around 70,000 entries is not too small – how many devices are available for pre-sale is left in the dark by Nothing. The “first come, first served” principle applies to the waiting list: Those who are higher up have a better chance of being invited. Your own waiting list position can only be improved by inviting other interested parties via a link, whereby they must actually enter themselves in the list.

Invitations will be sent out on July 11th

As Nothing confirmed in March 2022, the Phone 1 will be officially presented on July 12th. Pre-order invitations will be sent out by July 11th. Upon receipt of the invitation, the selected waitlist members must pay a non-refundable deposit of 20 euros within 48 hours. The following day, invitees will then receive a private link to purchase the device, which will expire after 14 days. The down payment made will be deducted from the purchase price; the bonus promised by the website appears to be a 20 percent discount on other Nothing products.

The waiting list system could only be limited to pre-sales of the Phone 1. Nothing wants community members to be among the first to hold the product in their hands before it “officially goes on sale”. In Germany, however, the Phone 1 will be available exclusively from Telekom.
