Lost Ark: “You just get depressed” – reactions to the Korea roadmap
You probably know that Lost Ark was available in countries like Korea, Japan or Russia much earlier than here in Europe or North America. And as is usual with such staggered launch phases of Asian online role-playing games, we are now lagging behind the previously released versions in terms of content.
However, Amazon Games strives to narrow this gulf between versions over time. For example, next week we’ll be getting access to the new Vykas Legions raid much earlier (post-launch wise) than we did in Korea back then. The classes are also published at a faster rate. In July we can already welcome the next addition with the arcanist.
This brings the future for Lost Ark
Still, some players aren’t going fast enough. They look with great envy at all the content that’s already playable in Korea, arguing over and over again, “The content is there! Localize it and bring it live. It doesn’t make the game any worse if the releases are artificially placed in lengthens.” – for example here.
The discussions in the Lost Ark forum were particularly emotional (buy now €19.99) after the “LOA On” summer event that took place recently. There, those responsible for Smilegate revealed what the future of Lost Ark will bring. Here are the key points of the new roadmap:
- With the Aeromancer, the second specialist class was announced after the Painter. The new supporter can control the weather and summon tornadoes, rain or sun effects. To do this, he wields a…no joke…umbrella in battle.
- There will of course be new Guardian and Legion Raids.
- The MVP screen will be adjusted and a lot of new information will be added. In addition, MVPs are rewarded with special emblems.
- The world map should be revised.
- There should be a new training option against bots for PvP arena.
- The tripod system is to be revised and made more flexible and comfortable.
- The developers are planning more frequent balancing patches for the countless classes and builds.
- In addition to skills and values, you should also be able to adjust card sets, tripods and other things in the training room in the future, which will make the tests on the DpS dolls more meaningful.
- Your fortress island should be expanded with new content.
- An improved selfie mode has been announced.
- The wardrobe is being revised, where we should be able to store the skins of the entire squad and define pre-sets.
- For the auction house there will be a price history for the last few weeks.
- There will be a crossover with The Witcher 3.

“You just get depressed”
Among other things in this German-language post the announcements are discussed, or rather how badly the western version of Lost Ark performs in direct comparison for some players. Thread creator Puerre writes something like this: “You just get depressed and sad“. Why? Because we will definitely only see this content in two or three years, and then Amazon will surely come up with adjustments again with which they can “milk” the players, according to Puerre.
But there are also dissenting voices. For example, well-known Lost Ark youtuber and streamer Senderfn is very positive about the announcements and looking forward to the future of the game, although they would like to see a similar announcement event for the EU version of Lost Ark as well. Here is his assessment of the announcements:
How do you rate the update policy of Smilegate and Amazon Games? Would you also like to have the entire content of the Korean version in one fell swoop, or does the current patch tempo suit you? Are you looking forward to the newly announced content like the Aeromancer? Tell us in the comments!
