New World: Musical Instruments and new Expedition previewed
The developers at Amazon Games have opened the doors to the content of the upcoming July patch on the New World public test server (PTR). When exactly this hits the live servers is still unknown. But the fact is: New World is getting more musical! Because in addition to the new expedition, musical instruments await you. Not only do they fill the air on Aeternum with pleasant sounds, they also help player characters with buffs!
Musical instruments in New World
The developers have one on the official New World site small guide to the five musical instruments revealed: Guitar, mandolin, double bass, drums and the Azoth flute. These have their own ability for which you can gain experience. When the instruments are released, there will be 31 songs for you to learn. For this you collect pages in Aeternum and disassemble them. The new Fest Sommer-Medleyfaire also offers tasks that give you pages and beginner instruments. On top of that, you can build better instruments that also offer new effects.

Bonuses about music in New World: what’s the point?
Whoever plays the songs they have learned will receive bonuses – as will the audience. If the performance is flawless, the bonuses are even stronger. As you continue to level up the Music skill, you will gain access to more character bonuses. These then look like this:
- Quick Fingers: Gathering speed increases by 75% for 30 to 90 min.
- Territory Triumph: Territory reputation bonus increases by 10-30% for 30-90 min.
- All Together Now: Group Character EXP partial bonus increases by 4-15% for 30-90 min.
- Song in Step: Decreases stress by 200-1000 for 30-90 min.
- Fortune’s Favor: Gathering yield increases by 3-10% for 30-90 min.
- Fortune Hunt: Gathering Luck increases by 2-5% for 30-90 min.
New Expedition: Barnacles and Gunpowder
Apart from the musical design, the next dungeon awaits brave adventurers on the PTR. This is the “Barnacles and Black Powder” expedition. In this you face Admiral Schwarzpulver and his undead crew. The whole thing is an endgame instance, which will also be expanded with mutators two weeks after the release. The following mutators then come into play brand new:
- Icebound: A mutation that focuses on ice elemental effects related to damage taken and dealt. She can also cast slowing status effects!
- Brutally: A set that includes mana drains and silent zones where skills cannot be used for a short time.
- frenzied: Curses evasive players. The curses stack and deal damage over time. Maximum stacks also deal damage to nearby allies.
On the Official New World site You’ll also learn more about the skill, gathering, crafting, and loot drop changes, as well as the removal of Expedition Voiceballs that we’ve previously covered. Are you looking forward to this update? Does playing instruments sound appealing to you? Or is the developer wasting time with this feature? Tell us in the comments!
