The newest dungeon, Duality, is hot content in Destiny 2 right now. But where many guardians need about 1 hour for the activity, a task force casually plays it down from start to kill the end boss in under 9 minutes. But even if you don’t want to become a speed runner, the run reveals a few practical shortcuts that you can use too.

What is that record? Speedruns in Destiny 2 have their own fan base. While other players tend to spend hours in the activities, the goal of the speedrunner community is to find new ways to complete dungeons or raids in record time. The faster the better.

The players Gunnarhawk, Speeding-Rex and Zero also thought so and made the latest dungeon “Duality” from Season 17. In less than 9 minutes, they completed all three encounters of the mini-raid, including boss fights and jump passages, with an almost unbelievable speed.

You can watch the full run here, which is both crazy and impressive at the same time – a record time of 8 minutes 54 seconds. There is no faster way to get to your top loot.

Insanely fast run with moves that will make other Guardians jealous.

How did they manage to do this so quickly? There is certainly a lot of experience and even more time involved in the duality speedrun. Because in order to get to this speed, all processes within the team have to be perfectly coordinated, and every buff has to be optimally triggered.

So you can see again and again that the task force is waiting for the generation of solar sources to push their skills. In addition, extremely fast armor and weapon changes are necessary, mind you, while you’re just jumping into the depths somewhere.

Only if everything works perfectly will it be possible to place the bosses of the “Duality” dungeon in one phase each.

The Bold Blade perk gives Guardians the ultimate speed advantage.

What weapons do speedrunners use? As for weapons, swords are undefeated in this dungeon. This gives the speedrunners an advantage not only with the bosses.

  • In the first encounter, they used the sword exotic “The Lamentation”, which gives them healing thanks to “Intensified Consumption” in boss fights.
  • The legendary sword “Half-Truths” from the “30 Years of Bungie” DLC is also in use. It offers ultimate movement advantages through the perk “Bold Blade”, which helps the player to “fly over” huge areas in the shortest possible time.
  • In the second encounter, they use the Erianas Oath handgun exotic to quickly take down the Cabal Phalanxes and Legionnaires, as well as the Divinity raid exotic to deal more damage on the 3 mini-bosses.
  • On the final boss “Calus Shame”, the speedrunners then use a double linear fusion rifle combo:
    • On the one hand, the Season 15 Exotic “Lorenz drive” to quickly transport the bell guards over a distance to the afterlife using a black hole.
    • And for the final boss Caiatl, the current DPS king in Season 17 “Storm Chaser”, who knocks out 90,000 damage per salvo shot with the activated buffs, so that one final boss phase at Caiatl is enough to complete the dungeon.

Practical shortcuts that you can use too

Calus is impressed by this achievement!

But even if you don’t want to become a speed runner now, the record is certainly also interesting for normal guardians, because it tells you a few practical tricks and shortcuts. For some you need a little practice in “sword surfing” others you can use it like that.

These shortcuts are worth trying:

  • At 1:00 minutes, the speed runners use the first shortcut by activating the bell behind them and then jumping down several floors into the passage.
  • In the second encounter, time is short, but the distance is long. Depending on the position of the bell, the speedrunners do not use the path through the middle occupied by the opponent, but simply fly around the outside. Seen in the video at minute 4:00 and 5:00.

By the way, this isn’t the first dungeon to set insane records. In the Prophecy dungeon, just watching was sickening as speedrunners used their Sparrow to make the daring leap we’ve all been wanting to make.
