PS Plus Premium: 7 bonus games that you absolutely have to play

These are our PS Plus recommendations.

These are our PS Plus recommendations.

The new PS Plus model has been launched and with the large selection of bonus games, it will certainly be difficult for one or the other PlayStation fan to decide. We’re here to help, and we’ve put together a selection of seven great titles that you may not have even thought of.

Syberia (PS3)

Syberia 3 - First gameplay trailer

Syberia 3 – First gameplay trailer

Annika Bavendiek: If, like me, you have a thing for point & click games and want to experience some nostalgia, then I recommend Syberia, the first part of the adventure series from 2022, which recently received a really good fourth part with Syberia: The World Before has been expanded. So why not witness the beginnings of lawyer Kate Walker as she travels across the globe in search of living mammoths? Anyone who can overlook the dusty gameplay due to their age is offered an impressive game world in which we experience a grown-up story with profound characters and a great soundtrack.

Rogue Galaxy (PS2)

Linda Sprenger: Do you love games like Xenoblade Chronicles or Final Fantasy 12? Then you should definitely download Rogue Galaxy (not to be confused with Rogue Legacy). In Level 5 Japanese action RPG, you take on the role of a young man who travels across the galaxy with a motley crew of sky pirates to rescue them. A typical JRPG story, then. The star of the game, however, are the many different planets that you visit and explore, and the fun real-time combat system, which is similar to Xenoblade and FF 12.

SOMA (PS4)

Soma - Story trailer for the horror game

Soma – Story trailer for the horror game

Max Franke: SOMA is a story-heavy sci-fi adventure with horror elements, whose story quickly captivated me. After a brief introduction, the character awakens in a dark and abandoned research station. As the game progresses you will find out what happened to the world and try to find a way out. The gameplay could be described as “Walking Simulator Plus”, since you regularly have to solve larger puzzles, but mainly explore a lot and listen to great dialogues.

There are even enemies and stealth passages, but these can be deactivated if you prefer to take it easy. What makes the game really special is the story and the many intriguing philosophical questions that are raised throughout the storyline as you progress through the atmospherically pleasantly chilling levels. It’s not long either! Depending on how much you explore, you can complete the game in one evening.

REZ Infinite (PS4)

Rez Infinite – Gameplay trailer with first game scenes

Chris Werian: I’m just really in the mood to shoot my way through space again. Or just through the cyberspace of REZ Infinite, where computer viruses get to the bottom. As an audio enthusiast, it’s the combination of sound and gameplay that keeps me coming back to the game. All sound effects, such as explosions or shots, are synchronized with the booming techno soundtrack, which creates an enormous pull for me.

Sure, REZ Infinite doesn’t look like much anymore, after all it’s a port of a Dreamcast classic that’s over twenty years old, but the unique game concept always makes me addicted to more within a few seconds. The fairly short playing time of just under one to two hours fits in well with that – download, fire up and snack away.

Ghost of a Tale (PS4)

Ghost of a Tale - Launch Trailer: Beautiful stealth game leaves Early Access

Ghost of a Tale – Launch Trailer: Beautiful stealth game leaves Early Access

Elene Reinke: Ghost of a Tale is a cute little adventure gem that may have stalked some of you. In the game we slip into the fur of the bard mouse Tilo, who has to sneak through a medieval world ruled by rats. There are no fights, so we can hide, disguise ourselves or throw a bottle over the head of careless rat opponents. The whole thing is kept quite simple and therefore also suitable for stealth newcomers.

But it only gets really charming with the funny and bizarre characters who give us various quests on our journey. But beware, a little sense of direction is needed: Although the world of Ghost of a Tale is still manageable in size, we have to do without any navigational aid.

Red Faction (PS2)

Tobias Veltin: Originally released in 2001, the shooter Red Faction lets us slip into a member of a resistance group against the exploitative Ultor Corporation on future Mars. Despite this rather dull-sounding premise, Red Faction blew me away at the time.

Because thanks to the Geo-Mod engine, it was possible to cause enormous destruction in the area. For example, you could tear holes in walls and bring down entire buildings. Since I also have good memories of the gun play and the weapon variance, I will definitely play it again thanks to the availability of PS Plus Premium. And if, like me, you’re a sucker for shooters with cool destruction effects, you should too.

Greedfall (PS4, PS5)

GreedFall - Trailer shows the complex relationships to your party

GreedFall – Trailer shows the complex relationships to your party

Samara Summer: If the words “action RPG” and “story focus” make your eyes widen, I recommend Greedfall. In this role-playing game, we explore a mysterious island as diplomat De Sardet, deal with its factions such as the seafaring group “Nauten”, deal with monsters and try to find a cure for the mysterious Malichor plague. Thanks to the interesting story, exciting side quests and dialogue options, this title gives you a Bioware feeling. While Greedfall doesn’t look “as polished” as bigger games and certainly has its flaws, I really enjoyed this little RPG gem.
