“Thank you for this authentic Diablo experience”: Streamer finally gets legendary Immortal Gem after €15,035

The microtransactions in Immortal are truly hellish.

The microtransactions in Immortal are truly hellish.

The week before last we reported on a streamer from New Zealand who wanted to get hold of a legendary gem with a rating of five out of five stars in Diablo Immortal. At that time, the man was valued at 20,000 New Zealand dollars (approx. 12,000 euros), but is still unlikely to own any of the rare items.

That is new: In the meantime, he has managed to get a five-star gem just by using real money – the streamer ultimately had to invest 25,165 NZD (approx. 15,035 euros) for this.

Diablo Immortal has a problem with microtransactions

It’s all about this: In Immortal there are pieces of equipment with different levels of rarity. The rarer an item, the stronger it makes your character. While it’s possible to find Legendary Items without spending money, it’s very difficult to do so. If you want to save yourself the time and buy an advantage in the demon slasher, you have to dig deep into your pockets because of the lucky mechanics, unless Fortuna is at the door.

That’s just the beginning: Nothing is gained with a five star gem. In fact, we need six of the highest quality legendary gems for a perfect build. This should make it clear to everyone how unlikely it is to get the really good Gems and that investing money in Diablo Immortal is hardly worth it, as Streamer Quin has demonstrated.

What is behind the experiment? According to Quin, it should be a demonstration of how much money it really takes to get a five-star gem. And apparently, the streamer deleted his Immortal account right after he achieved his goal. Nevertheless, there is criticism of the experiment. The accusation: Quin gave Blizzard exactly what they wanted and still benefited from it. However, other users argue that Blizzard could end up costing significantly more than the 15,000 euros for the negative PR.

More Diablo Immortal news:

Diablo Immortal is a financial success: Immortal is available in beta for iOS, Android and PC. Nevertheless, you can already spend money to get special items with a bit of luck. And apparently not a few people did that, because in just two weeks Blizzard was able to bring in around 24 million USD with the title – despite the sometimes harsh criticism from testers and the community.
