Hideo Kojima scrapped game because it was too similar to The Boys
Hideo Kojima, known for the Metal Gear series and Death Stranding, has revealed that he put a project on hold because it was too similar to the Amazon Prime series The Boys. Now the makers of The Boys are in touch!
The Boys on Amazon Prime Video continues to delight viewers in its third season with biting satire, black humor and criticism of our present. On top of that there is still a lot of action and violence! Unique is the idea of ”What if Superman … but bad?” Of course not, which is currently also illustrated by a revelation by Hideo Kojima, the mastermind behind Metal Gear and Death Stranding. Because he actually wanted to develop a game, but rejected it when it resembled The Boys too much.
Hideo Kojima came up with an idea for a game similar to The Boys
In fact, the Japanese game creator revealed on Twitter that he initially watched a few episodes of The Boys (he has since watched more) and realized pretty quickly that his own idea wasn’t all that original: a very black humorous concept about the secret clashes of a special team of detectives with a group of legendary heroes.
But while Kojima dumped the game, The Boys team still thinks it’s great. While like that Hughie actor Jack Quaid is delightedthat Kojima has now watched more of The Boys, showrunner Eric Kripke and Antony “Homelander” Starr are more specific: Kojima should simply make a game about The Boys, one is a huge fan of Kojima.
Can you imagine a The Boys game by Kojima? The mixture of wacky, social criticism and drama seems like an ideal combination at first glance. Especially since The Boys team would definitely be interested in a game implementation. Write us your opinion in the comments!
