Major Twitch Streamer Says Blizzard Hates Him - Allegedly Made Money For Not Showing Diablo 3

Chance “Sodapoppin” Morris is a popular streamer on Twitch. He celebrated huge success in 2019 with the release of WoW Classic. Still, he feels like a Blizzard employee must hate him terribly. Because he does not get access to beta events and, according to his own statements, experienced a curiosity about the release of the Crusader in Diablo 3.

What was wrong with Diablo 3? Sodapoppin reports that years ago, a PR firm made him an offer for a sponsored video. All he was supposed to do was show off the new Crusader class in Diablo 3:

I was 19 years old and they didn’t even pay that much. But I was still excited and all they wanted was a YouTube video of me playing and demonstrating the Crusader class.

But a little later, the company called him again and explained that the deal would not go through. They then offered him 50% of the money as an apology for not releasing the already finished video:

The management company said, “Hey, Blizzard doesn’t like you at all and we blew it. We’re sorry. They don’t want you to do the video. But you already made the video and we promised to pay you. Here is what we can offer you. We’ll give you half the money so you don’t publish it. And if you publish it, you get nothing.

Sodapoppin is still being banned from betas

Was the video deal an exception? Obviously not. Sodapoppin reports that despite being the 8th most watched Twitch channel in 2016, Blizzard didn’t invite him to the Overwatch beta:

  • He is said to have had several contacts who promised him to be part of the second wave of the beta.
  • But when the wave of invitations went out, the streamer was left out. He was not considered in later waves either.
  • Sodapoppin therefore suspects that there is someone at Blizzard who has enforced a “personal vendetta” against him.

He didn’t get any other access either, such as the beta of WoW Classic or BC Classic.

Has anything changed now? The streamer himself says he was different back then and deserved not to be noticed. He describes his then self as “really, really bad”.

But today he is no longer like that. Despite this, he was again only invited to the Wrath of the Lich King Classic beta. This is exactly what his statements in the stream about Blizzard resulted from.

Twitch: Who were the first successful streamers?

Is Sodapoppin dependent on Blizzard? no Although the streamer celebrated great success with the release of WoW Classic, it is a “variety streamer” and shows a wide variety of games. In the last 180 days he has spent most of his time in LoL, Elden Ring, Lost Ark and Risk of Rain 2. However, he still shows regularly in WoW.
