Microsoft’s current operating system – Windows 11 – will receive its first major feature update later this year with 22H2. Microsoft has not planned any changes to the system requirements so far. However, if you want to know whether the own computers specifically compatible with the new version can now check this via the registry editor.
There is also the “PC Health Check” or “PC Integrity Check” app. But that only reveals how the support of Windows 11 is in general. - Open the registry editor by typing “regedit” in the start menu and selecting the appropriate app. You may need administrator rights.

- The keys found there now stand for the available feature updates from Windows, such as 21H1 and 21H2. The required key that we need to check 22H2 compatibility is “NI22H2“.
- Under the path you will now find the entry “RedReason“. If you double-click on it, a value appears. If this is “None”, the Windows system has not detected any problems. This means that your computer will probably handle the 22H2 update without any problems.
Entries like “CPUFms Tpm UefiSecureBoot” may be noted on older systems. They are then easy to decrypt: The computer does not meet the known basic requirements for Windows 11 – including a TPM unit and secure boot settings in the UEFI BIOS.
