Nobody at Blizzard expected that World of Warcraft would suddenly make an entire genre accessible. That an MMO subscription would suddenly be chic. The timing was, you have to say, perfect. After we recently remembered an absolutely insane and absurd WoW advertisement – the Warlock in the Toyota pickup -, this time it’s a no less entertaining piece of advertising.

As part of a promotion deal with Blizzard, former wrestler and part-time actor Mr. T (like BA Baracus in A-Team) was hired, who, thanks to an absurd script, immediately invented a completely new class: the night elf firoquois aka the night elf mohawk.

Of course, we don’t know how successful the advertising with Mr. T was in the end. But unlike other commercials from the heyday of World of Warcraft (buy now ) did the advertisement actually have an effect! For one, night elves were actually allowed to change their hairstyle to a mohican at the barber (which just came into play with WotLK).
